SILENT STUDY AREA

The silent study floor in Horn Library at Babson College was anything but silent. A solution was needed to enforce a culture of respect and silence. Environmental designs throughout the space conveying this message restored order, and a new atmosphere was born.

ENTRANCE

The floor was officially named the Silent Study Area and we made sure everyone entering knows it! This is the main entrance students enter the space the standard has been set for all future classes to come.

WALL DESIGN

Instead of choosing a few select walls we decided the best way to get the message across was a banner throughout the room. The design wraps around the space at the same height and alternates between three silencing icons.

BIZ E. BANNER

Biz E. Beaver is beloved on Babson campus, he was added as a playful element to lighten then mood on the request for silence. The Babson B also made it’s way into the playful messaging. He is right as students come in as a gentle reminder.
